For The Love Of God…Really?
I am constantly amazed and disappointed in those “leaders” on the right that continuously tout their “Christianity”, but at the same time go out of their way to do and say things so opposite of what “Christianity” is supposedly all about. There is freedom of speech in this country, and freedom of religion. But if you’re going to incite freedom of speech when you lie…call it what it is…a lie, or simply propaganda. Please stop calling it “God’s work, or the “Will of God”.
It is just sickening to me the way these so-called “leaders” of “Christian Conservatism” get away with their hypocrisy, their disdain for fellow Americans, and in particular, our President. Where is the love for our fellow human beings? Before we are black, white, Christian, Jew, Muslim, straight, gay, man woman…we are HUMAN BEINGS. Why is that so hard to preach? What are you preaching in those churches? You complain and criticize what Preachers are saying in the CHURCH, yes the CHURCH–you know those buildings with crosses on top and talk about Christianity, that our President and his family belonged to because of what they might be teaching in there. Well, I got a question for you…what are YOU teaching? It clearly isn’t “love thy neighbor.”
What happened to “we are all God’s children? Do you think God made a mistake when he created people that don’t look like you, think like you, and pray like you? Do you really think your God is that dumb? Do you think as a parent, you would appreciate others treating your children horribly because they’re different? I thought you were created in God’s likeness? Hmmm…time to go get a new mirror. “God’s work?” “God’s will?” I think not.
What happened to “blessed are the poor”? Well, it seems many of you have forgotten or maybe never learned what that means. It means we help them…we don’t shun them or leave them to suffer alone and fend for themselves because it might mean you have to give something of yourself to help them. How do people say they do “God’s work”, but ignore the suffering of fellow human beings. Not only ignore them, but hit them when they’re down. The lack of compassion is disappointing and disturbing.
What happened to God Bless America? Well, I guess you’re only a REAL American if that American thinks and believes like you, or lives in what Sarah Palin called the REAL America. The Statue of Liberty was proudly given to us from our friends abroad because of our compassion and generosity. “Bring us your poor and weary”…remember that? Poor and weary is what our settlers were when they came here. Many are still coming. But maybe these newcomers don’t look like you, or don’t pray to the same God you do, or don’t love who you think they should love. This is true for so many Americans living here now. The Native Americans that were here first, probably didn’t like us either when we got here, with good reason. But we came, and we took, and we stayed. The disrespect and disdain for good, law-abiding, and even God-loving Americans is inexcusable and appalling. The way horrific treatment and harm is done to those who are different by those inciting “God’s will” is unforgivable.
So what are you preaching in those buildings with crosses on the top? It’s clearly not love. It’s clearly not humanity. It’s clearly not respect. You say all this is done for the Love of God? I think not. It’s sounds more like the love of Hate. I am not religious, and don’t believe in a judgment day. But if there is–I hope God takes a good look at how you’re treated His, or maybe Her children. Shame on all of you that don’t live up to what it’s supposed to mean to be a Christian, or even a good person. You can keep your religion. To me, religion is a choice, you don’t need it to be a good person. But if you feel you need it to be a good person, or get into those pearly gates…LIVE IT. Stop the Hate. Stop The Hypocrisy. Join the HUMAN RACE. Thanks.

“I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It’s just that the translations have gone wrong.” -John Lennon
That’s exactly how I feel about it, Mr. Guy!
I totally agree and could have not said it better. It is a very sad day in our America where religion is tossed out there like an old dollar bill to strike fear into people so they will comply with others beliefs. God made us in his likeness, we need to love one and other, black, white, straight, gay, sane or indifferent. It should NEVER be “We the People” only if you have my views. Peace
Well, Well said, Christiann. I am consistently stunned at the disconnect here. Why is there no accountability for the way so many “Christians” treat people not like them. Why do they do it, and why do they get away with it as so many turn a blind eye to the hypocrisy? Makes me NUTS.
