Dear Mr. Cantor: I just read that you don’t support the deal the Senate has put forth to avert the fiscal cliff and save 98% of Americans from seeing their taxes go up tomorrow. Well, let me tell you what I don’t support: YOU, and YOUR buddies in Congress..you know that Congress with the VERY low approval rating, and just given the dubious label of being the LEAST productive Congress in this country’s history.
You, Mr. Cantor, make a great deal of money..money paid to you through the government…though taxes paid by US. You get federally paid for healthcare..FOR LIFE–health care paid for by US and our fair share of taxes. You have no problem with seeing so many of US suffer. You have no problem seeing the economy, which has made notable improvements…without much help from you, I must add, go down the toilet, setting off a possible recession, which will be felt not just our dinner tables across the country, but across the planet.
You have been a supporter of doing NOTHING. You promote doing NOTHING. You do NOTHING…well..you do something—you whine, and you obstruct and you appear to sleep well knowing the damage you leave behind. When are you going to do: SOMETHING? And you want to be the leader of the House? Seriously? When are you going to put country first, instead of your ego and your greed? Where do you think this kind of B.S. and lack of concern for 98% of Americans is going to get you?
Did you not get the memo: OBAMA WON. Get your head out of your ass…and ACT LIKE IT. Patriotic American? I think not.

Give em’ Hell Peggy. I am so sick of these Republicans. The 50 to 75 radical right members of the House who are bought and paid for my private interests if not, their own. Yes, Obama won and the people spoke, but the sad thing is that those in office don’t care what the people want or need. This disconnect between the Congress and the people is a chasm Greater than the Grand Canyon. It is literally, let them eat cake. It has nothing to do with the people, Peggy… just money, just power, just greed…. Lately, I have been thinking the only way around them is a real revolution by the people. And what about the latest unprecedented, never in the history of our country refusal to give aid to the victims of Hurricane Sandy?! I think it is a refusal strategized to discredit Obama’s outstretched arm to New Jersey and New York City. What has happened to the victims of this storm is tragic. They need help. There is money out there. There are a select few that have most of it. This country is terribly off track. I don’t know what will get it back except an uprising.
Well, SueAnne, I have heard this before about the need for an uprising. I understand the temptation, but I don’t think it’s the answer. That being said, I totally believe that people need to get involved. They need to start practicing what they preach. There are a lot of armchair Presidents out there. Why don’t more people take time to understand the issues, understand the importance of participating in a democracy. 50% of all Americans don’t even VOTE, especially during the midterms. The far-left democrats have a lot to do with allowing the crazies on the right in. They threw President Obama under the bus during his midterm, and didn’t show up at the polls, and allowed the Tea Party in, making the President’s job that much harder. We need to be smarter about how we do this. I know we all have busy lives, but that can’t be an excuse for not to participate at same level.
The hypocrisy coming from the right on so many levels continues to be astounding…they call themselves the “REAL” Americans, or the “compassionate” conservatives…and they are anything but. They don’t believe Barack Obama is a legitimate President, and therefore don’t believe they have to support him…not even a little. But the fact that Barack Obama won re-election, has to give them pause, and has to be a wake-up call that America sees this differently, and that they are tired of the DO-NOTHING Congress run by the republicans. I agree that that something needs to change, but like our President said “WE are the CHANGE we’ve waited for”. I believe that. Taking the time to understand the issues, and how our democracy is supposed to work would be a good start. But too many Americans are lazy, or they are complacent, or they think they can’t make a difference. We need to change that mindset, and watch what happens.
